When You're Dreaming With a Happy Heart, The Waking Up Is The Hardest Part!

Tell me it's true!

Dreaming is a human being's fascination! People spend what seems like days (but in reality only hours or minutes) dreaming. In this busy life, getting good, quality sleep and having a good dream is like trying to see stars in the sky of a polluted metropolis. Once you spot one, you'd just love to stay in the moment.

Lately, my dreams have been action-packed and vivid. It's impressive that they seem to have a beginning, middle and end. The exchange of lines are very well-written, the actors seem well-rehearsed and they play out their roles so convincingly. People eat, and people feast! My favorite people hug and burst into song just like they were in Glee. Time is warped and there are more colors than what can be perceived by the eye. There are nothing but beautiful and grand things!

In psychology, we're taught that a self-report is the least valid source of information because there's too much biases involved! Nonetheless, here's my observation of what's been causing my erratic dreaming states: I've been exposed to so many things happening-- like going to school, doing freelance work, crossing the street, studying plankton, running around, doing 40-paged papers, plotting graphs, reading a novel and so on! On the contrary, the most idle months I've had (when I was still living in Japan) are the times I had least exciting dreams, my waking life was even more interesting. :>

So what I'm trying to point out is that: if you want to have really bizzare dreams, do many things! Go the extra mile and experience what's there to experience. Pick a leaf from a tree, doodle your crush's name on your notebook and get caught, deliberately take the wrong way, I dunno. It's just a personal recommendation though. 'Cause life is more exciting that way! (But I don't mean it for you to get caught by the police.) The more stimuli you're exposed to in a day, the more there is to store in your subconscious! The more materials there are to dream. Makes sense, huh? :-)

The moment we completely understand the mechanisms of dreaming however, is the moment everything will turn dull and sour. I'm just pretending to understand it and giving all my amateur-ish thoughts, so don't believe all of them. Haha!

Good night!
